After particularly tough days at work, these employees wasted no time before quitting. 

There are plenty of reasons to leave your job! You don't need to wait until you're dreading every shift — if possible, just leave ASAP. 

That's easier said than done in this job market. But just the feeling of quitting a job, whether or not you've got something lined up, can improve your life immediately. 

Instead of dreading your boss and having bad dreams about impolite customers, you can quit and find something truly satisfying to do. You really never know what jobs are out there until you start digging, and you might find a new career path that's absolutely perfect for you!

  • Spicynoodlez Was a manager at a coffee shop. Helped open the place. Always worked by myself (i'm not even lying, i'd make syrups (from scratch), coffee (including roasting in the morning every 2 days), take drive-thru orders, work cashier, then go outside to open the bar by myself (bringing all the bottles, restocking, making garnishes, squeezing lime juice, batching cocktails ect [also whilst attending inside, might I add]) did this for years.   • People who would work at the shop would constantly go to the back, ask the kitchen for food, and get it for free. Every staff rotation for years would do it. You know what i'd do? Lead by example. Pay for my food with a 30% discount. For 4 years I did this. One day the owner went off on me. It was a busy event, and i'm over here working my a off making all these drinks (smoothies, cocktails, coffee), and running food, and had the owner's wife attend the register.

  • Quite literally turned cherry red, got my phone from our little lockers (because we aren't allowed to have phones in the front of the house), and dipped in the middle of everything.   • For some workers, a snide remark by a manager was enough to make them walk out the door. Because what could be better payback for that manager you despise, than making them do your job for an entire shift? 

    Now that you're promoting yourself to customer, you can watch with glee as they try to get the daily tasks covered while they're short staffed. If only they'd been more kind to their employees, they wouldn't be in that position! But some managers will never admit that they've pushed a worker too far, and the frequent team turnover is just evidence of that.

    Not to be obtuse here, but how do you mess up more than like, one pizza? It's dough + sauce + cheese + toppings, in that order. 3 or 4 things! Some of the smallest numbers! That seems far too simple to mess up, no? 

    Also, waiting in person for pizza for 40 minutes is the kind of thing that would warrant a call to corporate. I hope that customer got them some coupons after all those shenanigans.

  • motherclucker19 I worked at a Chipotle for 1 shift. I had to make hard shells and chips. Chips went fine. But for the taco shells you had to put the corn tortillas in this little rack. It looked sort of like UUUU then you had to put pieces on top to keep the tortillas from floating away. Fine.   • Constantly on facebook at work but telling everyone off to work harder. I quit on the spot when she told me I am pretending to be sick to get time off. I went straight to HR.   • Some workplaces are so slow that it can be agonizing to the average person. There are fast-paced jobs, and then… this. The exact opposite. If one person's tech troubles can slow the entire team for the whole morning, just imagine what it's like working there all the time! 

  • stoodi I put my two weeks in but on my third to last day I told the boss I had a memorial I was going to be attending on Saturday and id miss half the day. he gave me an insane list of stuff I had to finish and said something along the lines of you have to finish all of this before you leave. I think I said something along the lines of I already worked 84 hrs the last 11 days so I'll consider my two weeks done. Be thankful I gave you that. Grabbed my shi and left.
